SANTA CLARA, California – Intel Corporation announced an important advance in the quest to use light beams to replace the use of electrons to carry data in and around computers. 

Through a project known as Aquasar, IBM researchers are working on new technologies that could drastically reduce the power consumption and carbon footprint of data centers.
